weekly strategies to help kids thrive
When it comes to raising the next generation, there’s no doubt that caregivers—whether they be parents, educators, guardians, aunties and uncles, nannies, grandparents, or therapists—have the best intentions. But try as we might and care as we might, good intentions don’t always produce good results. The waters are murky when it comes to best practices for raising resilient, independent, considerate kids. Should we let them be or hover intently? Cry it out or coddle the heck out of them? Reward risk or reinforce safety? It seems like even the experts change their minds every few years.

As parents with backgrounds in education, clinical psychology, and mindfulness, we were thirsty for actionable strategies backed by the latest research. We didn’t want to have to wade through outdated tomes or follow the latest social media fads. As busy grown-ups, we also wanted something easily digestible, that we could comprehend and enact as an easy lift. Nothing quite fit the bill, so we started a newsletter for a school community that quickly took off. Realizing that other caregivers were also craving simple, effective content, we decided to launch The Playbook in September 2025 as a newsletter offering weekly strategies to help kids thrive.
